Admission Requirements

Course pre-requisites

Registration as a nurse, doctor of medicine or other health professional in Australia; or

Completion of an appropriate AQF Level 7 Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline, with 2 years relevant experience or equivalent.

Minimum English language proficiency requirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 3a Schedule II of the 石榴视频 Admissions Policy.

Course learning outcomes

The Graduate Diploma in Health Professional Education enables health professionals to complete a postgraduate qualification to enhance their teaching and learning skills with undergraduate health students whom they teach and supervise.

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Health Professional Education will be able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge relating to the principles, methods and techniques of curriculum design and implementation that includes an understanding of recent developments in health professional education

  • Critically analyse, evaluate and synthesise models and theories of teaching and learning, assessment, evaluation and curriculum design for learning and benchmarking in health professional education at an advanced level

  • Apply leadership skills and problem-solving strategies for working with clinical teachers in health profession education

  • Interpret principles, theories and methods of medical/health professional education for a variety of audiences through high-level written and spoken English

  • Demonstrate personal autonomy and accountability for own professional development as a “lead” educator.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Students may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing and Articulation policy and associated procedures.

Currency

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 6 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 9 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the student has not completed this course.
