Minimum English language proficiency requirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 1 – Schedule II of the ʯÁñÊÓƵ Admissions Policy.

Course learning outcomes

On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of International Tourism and Hospitality Management, ʯÁñÊÓƵ graduates will be able to:

• Critically analyse tourism and hospitality-related knowledge and practice from both historical and recent perspectives

• Consolidate the application of differing sustainable tourism and hospitality performance methods

• Synthesise sustainable economic, social and environmental practices and value systems

• Apply established concepts to provide solutions to complex tourism and hospitality and professional practice problems

• Critically analyse contemporary tourism and hospitality issues using appropriate models and make reasoned recommendations

• Apply creative and innovative thinking effectively to tourism and hospitality practice

• Present complex information appropriately to differing audiences using:

  -  Effective oral presentation skills

  - Clear and fluent written communication

• Work effectively in achieving common goals, demonstrating both:

  - Collaboration

  - Leadership

• Adapt sustainable tourism and hospitality constructs and skills to theoretical or practical situations

• Exercise independent ethical judgment in solving differing tourism and hospitality problems creatively

• Demonstrate a capacity for personal reflection and self-development in relation to professional tourism and hospitality learning and practice

Supplementary exam for final subject

A candidate who has failed a single subject towards the award in their final teaching period and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply.

Expiry

Credit gained for any subject shall be cancelled 7 years after the date of the examination upon which the credit is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree.
