Video: Striped Possum’s Long Tongue in Action!

Catch a quick glimpse of a striped possum (Dactylopsila trivirgata) as it yawns and showcases its long tongue in this brief video from the Daintree Rainforest Observatory. Captured via a camera inside our nestbox, this footage provides insight into the unique adaptations of one of Australia's secretive nocturnal creatures. The striped possum uses its elongated tongue to extract insects and other small invertebrates from narrow crevices in trees, allowing it to access food sources that might be inaccessible to other predators.
