A range of events commemorating the 30 year anniversary of the Mabo Decision or inspired by the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo are being held throughout 2022. Upcoming and past events can be found below.
Mayo Lecture 2022
The Mayo Lecture is an annual event run by the College of Business, Law and Governance in conjunction with the in honour of Mrs Marylyn Mayo, 石榴视频's foundation law staff member. The 石榴视频LSS instituted the Mayo Lecture in 1991 as a tribute to Marylyn's work in maintaining a law presence at 石榴视频 and, ultimately, in establishing the full law degree here.
This year’s Mayo Lecture will be delivered by .
Date: 14 October 2022
Time: 6.30 – 7.30pm
Venue: Science Place lecture auditorium.
The lecture will be followed by light refreshments at Central Plaza.

10.00am - commencing Walker Street (Perfume Gardens) through CBD to the Mabo Memorial Monument, Central Park, South Townsville.
Opening Ceremony
11.00am - Official ceremony at Eddie Koiki Mabo monument (in Central Park beside Ross Creek) followed by further celebrations (12.00pm - 6.00pm) including guest speakers, live entertainment, traditional dancing, food stalls, arts & crafts stalls.
9am to 8pm, AMR Hall, 33-37 Aitken Street, Aitkenvale. Live entertainment, traditional dancing, food stalls, arts & crafts stalls.
10am to 1pm, AMR Hall, 33-37 Aitken Street, Aitkenvale. Church Service followed by Sunday Dinner.
